God Is Not Fair
National HME is committed to the hospice industry, to the patient and family. Through my relationship with a long term friend and colleague we are excited to provide
to our customers an incredible book that was recently updated as a special hospice edition that reveals comfort, peace and restoration for families about loss and
suffering. We will be offering this book complimentary for your bereavement program Chaplains to share with families throughout the upcoming months after the loss
of their loved one. The following is my personal story and the forward to the new hospice edition book “God Is Not Fair”. I am honored to be part of such a great
calling, working in a wonderful healthcare service. As we all face the journey of life, circumstances occur that stop us in our tracks. In a time on my journey in
early 1998, our oldest son, Matthew was suddenly and tragically gone.
As we look back now and try to understand, life was going great. All was in order; family, friends, fellowship and finances. Kathy, my incredibly wonderful wife
of 30 years and I were helping a couple of young Christian Bands get started and actively involved in leadership at our church. Time every day was filled with our
other marvelous children, Joshua and Rebekah and keeping up with our health care companies. That morning, January 13, 1998 was beautiful, happy and all was in line
for another opportunity to live life and make a difference. However, not long into the day I received a call from my son, Matthew with his final words to me that
he was tired, that he loved me and could not continue living without his wife that he had recently been separated from. Before I could get to him at his apartment,
he had taken his life in desperation to what seemed to be an insurmountable situation for him. Our journey seemed to stop that morning and life was not the same.
Many questions, misunderstandings and emotions were raging for months to come. Through faith and the love that God has for us we were surrounded by family and friends
and somehow found our way a few months later at a conference that I served on the board of directors. That was our first encounter with Joel Freeman, his open-ness
and candor about making sense out of our loss touched us in a way that allowed us the freedom to start moving again. Although Kathy and I, and our other children
will never be the same we now were able to find some comfort and began to understand the sover-eign hand of God. With the writing from Dr. Freeman and through his
genuine love for people our journey was able to continue in a way that has and will continue to honor our calling and fulfill our divine purpose.
It is with a heart of humility and honor that Dr. Freeman has offered his book to share with you through our company, National HME. We understand that the
recent loss of your loved one has left an empty part in your heart and I believe that the words in the book will challenge you, help you understand your feelings
and allow you to continue on the journey that you have been called to. It will allow you the opportunity to reconnect and stand on solid ground and comfort you.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of caring for your family and loved one at a time that was a low point in your journey. We pray for peace, power and
understanding as you read this awesome book from Dr. Freeman.
